Over the past fifty years, Kortrijk has become a prominent student city in Flandres. The pastures of the past were replaced by modern student buildings and dorms, giving generations of students a chance to leave their mark on the student history of 't Hoge. However, the campus in Kortrijk has more to offer than just modern facultative buildings: a multitude of cafes, fitness clubs, eateries and even a movie theatre ensure that you never grow bored or hungry. Should you reach a point were you can't stand to see another text book, computer or student restaurant, then we highly recommend you to explore Kortrijk city centre or, as the hipsters like to call it: K-town.
Kortrijk centre offers several diverting shopping centres such as the Lange Steenstraat (a street so famous it has its own square on the Belgian Monopoly board) and the shopping mall K. Apart from the larger shopping chains you can also discover small boutiques hidden away in the city.
Hungry? Kortrijk will more than meet your needs, whether for a big appetite or a quick bite. A wide range of culinary treats from all over the world can be discovered in the city centre. By the way, did you know that Kortrijk is the burger capital of Flandres? Nowhere else will you find this many unique burger restaurants that take great pride in offering their customers (vegan or otherwise) the best.
If after a long day of intellectual challenges on campus you feel the urge to release some of your pent-up energy you can enjoy yourself in the nearby sports centre Lange Munte. Numerous sports clubs and a swimming pool await. For those of you who prefer the outdoors: the campus also offers Finnish slopes, of course we expect nothing less than 5 km of you.
