As evidenced by the throngs of tourists that flock to Bruges everyday, this city has plenty to offer. Students aren't drawn to the city for the Romanesque façades and medieval canals in the city center, but this city has much more to offer than the obvious tourist attractions.
Bruges has several nice shopping districts: the historic centre, 't Zand, the Smedenstraat, the Katelijnestraat, the Ezelstraat....There you'll find authentic boutiques, trendy design shops, trusted brands and specialty stores for the artistic and creative minds. Near our college grounds are several cosy restaurants for everyone's taste and budget, coffee bars and supermarkets. Or do you prefer to visit one of the hundreds of pubs? You'll find them literally everywhere.
If you prefer to play sports after a day in class to reawaken your energy, just go to one of the many gymns or fitness centres. Bruges also has an Olympic-size swimming pool. And afterwards, you are ready for the next day in Bruges. You'll need the weekend to rest!
But you'll want to use your weekends to explore all the cities nearby: Ostend, Kortrijk, Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels are all less than an hour away and easy to reach by public transportion. Or take the train to London, Paris or Amsterdam. The International Train Station of Bruges directly connects the town's centre with many large cities all over Europe.
